Affiliation with Divine Word University
DBTI is an affiliated institution with the Divine Word University of Madang. The first MOA between DBTI and DWU was signed in August 2003 for an initial period of three years and renewed for five years on 2nd December 2006. The significance of the MOA includes the following:

DBTI will comply with the academic quality standards prescribed by DWU Council and Academic Board consistent with the Divine Word University Act (1999). |

All ten academic and technology programmes offered by DBTI are accredited by the DWU Council. |

All DBTI graduates recieve an award (testamur) of the DWU Council which acknowledges the partnership between DBTI and DWU. |
Teaching Service Commission (TSC)
DBTI is recognized by the Office of Higher Education as an institution of higher education by virtue of its affiliation with Divine Word University.
Commencing in academic year 2003, graduates with a Bachelor of Education-Technical degree have been admitted by TSC with a provisional registration certificate enabling them to take up teaching positions within the Papua New Guinea education system. The graduates are granted approval to teach any subject related to their field of study and Mathematics or English.
National Training Council (NTC)
DBTI is registered by NTC to provide training in technical courses leading to certificate level awards. The first registration as a training provider (NTC Decision No. 389/02/03) was granted in August, 2003. In January 2007, NTC granted DBTI the renewal of its certificate of registration with a special commendation from the NTC Director, which reads, “I congratulate you on your continuing service and in recognition of your knowledge and skills, the NTC has awarded your renewal certificate of registration.”
Since then, DBTI has its registration renewed on an annual basis. DBTI has also set its commitment with the council to have its technology staff registered with NTC.
